>2012, 20 years old
>Inherit small house from grandparents, as only grandchild and parents already have house
>grandparents had never maintained it well
>full of various problems
>initially was useless at diy
>too poor to afford qualified trademen to repair
>sometimes had to learn things urgently on the spot
>barely had any tools at all
>sometimes would lay down and cry when plumbing problems happened and leaks became unmanagable
>also useless at car maintainence

>2015, 23 years old
>have loads of tools
>can do pretty much any repair that needs doing
>can service my own car and resolve most problems
>so much of the house was renovated by me
>I put in all carpets and flooring, all wallpaper, most light fittings
>So proud of all these achievements

I think I finally feel like a man now, learning /diy/ really is so satisfying, I'm glad I'm at this stage now

DIY Cosplay/Costumes/Armor Thread

I'm new here, but I figured this is as good a place as any to ask about some techniques regarding making a Mando Cosplay.

I've already cast a helm from a design I made, but I need to stiffen it and get rid of the lumpy bits so as to create a smooth dome. (pic related)

neckst.

I want to make foam armour that's also layered with recycled PETE or PET (for extra gloss and durability).

feel free to add other cosplay/custom armor

just spent two hours making a partial denture i lost in the lake last weekend falling off the drunk tube. i went in to dentist and they wanted 1500 bucks to make a new one, i had to say Nope!

found a youtube vid, ordered the stuff, and after 7 bucks and a few hours of my time, i feel better about my appearance again.

i dont know if it will leach into my body and grow me manbewbs.

3d printing beads. melt at 120, easy to sculpt. was a fun project, and could be done with much more precision of course.

Arduino General

TELL US OF YOUR PROJECTS!
TELL US OF YOUR EXPLOITS!

in other news I have a wired programming question.

I have a rotary encoder that'll be reading tens of thousands of revolutions at a time and a device which will send signals at irregular intervals.
I need to record and export the number of revolutions(to the single or half revolution if at all possible) between signals(and between startup and the first signal) onto an Excel spreadsheet.

does anyone know of a good Arduino to Excel interpretation and recording software?

I've found this lighter today. But I've got a problem, I've put a gas in it, i see the spark, I can hear the gas leaving lighter but there is no flame. Why? I want to repair it, cause lighters like this one are really rarely seen in my country.

So /diy/, some friends and me started playing Catan + player ampliation and is awesome as fuck. The problem is that we are a lot of people so we need another player ampliation but buying another will not even work (as we need more terrain hexagons and shit than before).

The idea is to make our Catan + 2 player ampliation but first we need to make the base game first.

Any of you did this before? Any recommendation or advise?

We plan to make the figures with a 3d printer but we don't know how to make cool looking (and durable) cards and terrain hexagons.

Any feedback or idea will be appreciated.
