Patterns for bolters?

No.891987 ViewReplyReportDelete
I was looking to do an aluminum cast of a bolter (pic related,) but cannot find any templates, patterns or plans anywhere for the wax or foam I'd use for the form. Can anyone help?

Also, if anyone's done such a large casting, how much do you think it'd take to do a solid, one piece cast? I'm estimating about 10 pounds, anyone disagree?

>buy this cheapo fog machine
>about 4 years old
>this year, doesnt work

thing looks pretty decent inside.

The controller has a button to push and a light that turns green when its ready. The indicator turns green but pushing the button, nothing happens. no motor no noise no flicker of light no anything.

I want to try to fix it. There appears to be (yellow) wires running into the tank. Are they attached to a probe that detects the tank level and wont work if it doesnt detect water? Seems unnecessary for a $20 fog machine. The thing was full and the probe was submerged, so if its faulty it wont let the pump run, cuz this probe runs between the mini pump and the controller, i think.

Electrical damage

No.892484 ViewReplyReportDelete
Long story short:
>Working on a team project
>guy hands me some leftover components to let me work at home
>among these, a 20x4 lcd with a i2c driver
>testing the display back at home
>backlight works, contrast trimmer doesn't work, doesn't even shows the rows indicating a missing i2c connection
>check the GND and VCC pins
>see this
What kind of damage is this, is it because of soldering or was it fed a higher voltage than 5V?

I live in shitty noisy cheap appartment (moving is not an option because poor and on autismbux). I am quickly annoyed by sounds. Which is slamming doors, people talking/screaming, playing music and what not.

How can I create something that doesnt make me annoyed by it?

I was thinking of sound proving but its too expensive and will look ugly to make the entire walls like pic related. I already try playing classical music but sometimes I get annoyed by it.

Is there any sort of way to cope with this? I was thinking about white noise music but i dont know if it exists.

Please help an autist out how to make something or play something that fixes this issue

Thanks alot

DIY Lasers

No.890237 ViewReplyReportDelete
So any thoughts on /diy/ laser cutters?

I know most in the affordable range aren't bad for their lasers but rather everything else being cheap chinese made boards and software. So how is the DIY way of laser cutters?

I'm curious on typical price, performance, and software for it.

And if there is any way around the optics as those seem a pain in the ass, I've seen small models just cut a fixed area so I would be cool with just filling that area to save material and time.
