How can I attach a curtain to my blinds/place curtains without drilling the walls? Aiming for 100% coverage, likely to buy blackout drapes.

Considered tension rods but I don't have the depth in my window frame with the (horizontal) blinds. Would remove the blinds but curtains aren't supposed to be visible and my window directly faces the front office :/.

I know I could just drill and spackle/paint but my roomate's never rented before and is paranoid about breaking the lease terms. Also I'd need to buy a drill.

> pic related ;_;

Literally a bedsheet, push pins and paper clips.

How can I keep my car battery charged in cold weather without plugging it into a charger every night

Is that possible to run a charger off another battery or a heater off another more well insulated battery inside the car

Fur Hat

No.889905 ViewReplyReportDelete
Alright /diy/nosaurs. Ive been asked by my boyfriend to make one of these hats. He bought one before but was dissapointed with the quality, even at the $500 price tag. The front of the hat was nice and bright colored fur with beautiful gaurd hairs, but the back lacked gaurd hairs and was color-bland.

Another complaint was the feel of the pelt in the hat. Even at furriers in NY when we visited, the hats they had were all tanned or produced to keep their shape. The garment tanned pelts I bought are much more supple and flexible, and I suspect they'll produce a much softer hat.

I've got experience working with leather, and I also have experience with sewing fabrics. Im not worried about the logistics or manufacturing.
The difficulty im having however is finding patterns.

Because he wants it to be big and full I've bought two pelts to ensure that there's plenty of rich colorful full fur.

Ive done quite a bit of googling but patterns are hard to come by. I searched through all the patterns at the fabric stores. Ive found patterns for trapper hats but not for fur or in the same style as pic related. They're usually for making a trapper hat like the $14.99 ones at k-mart.

Anyways wondering if anyone has made one of these or knows of where to get patterns.

Hey, my benchtop power supply's IC got fried and I can't find a replacement part anywhere around my city (ebay would take 2 months).

Do you anons know any equivalent IC that I can use with the same pin configurations?

Datasheet for the part:

Hello /diy/, Ive always wanted to make a mash paddle from one of my trees. My favorite maple got trimmed yesterday and i got myself a healthy 6 inch thick log. With absolutely no woodworking experience is this feasible? Im not even sure how long it would take to dry sufficiently...how would you go about it?

Wood Burning diy

No.891439 ViewReplyReportDelete
So /diy/, I've been getting wood burned by a professional for a while, but I'm trying to just do it myself. It's nothing fancy, Just a few stamped letters in large font. I figured I'd just cnc mill out a steel plate (1/4" - 1/8" probably) with the letters, just put it on the wood and go at it with a blow torch until it darkens. I know professionals usually uses lasers and special tools and fancy shit, but does anybody know if this will do a comparable job?

So I've got a couple olivewood kitchen utensils, and I cannot keep a finish on them. I've used coconut oil (kinda dumb, but whatever), mineral oil, and mineral oil with beeswax melted into it. And no matter how heavily I apply it, or how many times, if I use it even once, the finish is completely gone afterward and it looks like the thing has been sitting out in the Sahara for a few months.

Obviously I hand wash, not dishwasher.

Any pro tips?

I was taking my undersink apart to check for a major clog. Unfortunately, it was so rusted, it snapped off. What is the type of pipe that threads into the underside of a sink? I tried simple 2inch nylon, but it was slightly too big, and 1-1/2 is too small.

Planning on building an RC nitro car from scratch.
I'll be designing literally everything, the chassis, engine, gearbox, wheels, suspension, controller circuitry etc.

Has anyone attempted something similar? Any advice?

So my friend and I were making homemade wine. Mine turned out great, but he just sent me a text saying the mason jar he was fermenting his in won't open because the pressure is way too high in there. That it might explode.

Is there any way he can salvage the wine? A way to release the pressure non-explosively?

For obvious reasons, I kind of need a fast answer.
