Greetings, DIYers.

The county came out to fix a leak in the pipe between the hydrant and the street by my house. They cut the pipe replaced patched whatever, and my water heater stopped working. Breakers didn't trip. Reset button not popped. Testing elements per YouTube tutorial shows them reading at 13+ Ohms, so, they're ostensibly good.

Ideas?

In return, the Studley Tool Chest, over which to salivate.

Does anyone share my frustration? I love diy but I have this massive hang-up where I only learn when it comes to practical application. I need a drawstring bag, costume or the like? I'll sew it no problem. But when I look at the big drawer full of cloth and scrap I collected neatly stored I get these idea of what I could make... and nothing comes to mind. Complete and utter creative block. If I do manage to think of something, it'll just be whacked out home decor (google turns up nothing but that for "fun projects") I don't feel the drive to do. Same thing with most other DIY hobbies, not just sewing.

Currently I'm looking at a buncha LEDs, resistors, push-switches and On/OFF switches and a desire to make something cool or nifty with them, but I haven't come up with anything I could USE at all. I'm all about the practical, and that's cancerous in a way because once you finish, you don't practice or further your skill/craft.

On a side note, also terrible because I kinda want to start making random shit that people might buy at a stall in markets. No set inventory, just all kindsa shit I have learned to make to the best of my abilities.

Does anybody share my feels? Have any advice?

I need to put new mortar in between the bricks in my chimney (apparently this is called "pointing"), and maybe re-lay a few bricks.

Has anyone done this before that could share some tips, warnings or stories? Pic related is one of the results I'm trying to avoid.

Japanese pull saw > Pig western push saw

Is there anything that pig whites have devised that are superior to its Japanese counterpart? The Japanese pull saw is one more proof that the Japanese are a superior race.

I wanted to make a battery-powered lamp. Seemed so simple, right?

Then after buying some lamp wire, some D cell batteries and a bulb, I noticed that my bulb uses 120v and a D cell only outputs 1.5v

Did I dun goofed? Is it even feasible to power a 40-60w light bulb with a (relatively) small power supply?
