Please help me guys, for the past year or so I've been tormented by bedbugs. Do you guys now of any remedies, effective pesticides, tips, tricks, etc. I'd really appreciate some advice.

Ok I beat the little fucker ls recently. I cleaned out all of the clothes. placed them in plastic garbage bags. Ibthen left them outside and let the florida heat take care of that. Very high heat is your friend. the rim of your mattress is their favourite spot. so I pulled out my death ray (also known as a ten dollar heat gun) and cooked them all. with all furniture removed I went around the whole room with the heat gun. Slowly until you can almost smell the carpet melting. Pay close attention to baseboards. I also sprayed the standard home depot bedbug spray for about two weeks. I also laid down boarax for good measure. I really believe it was the heat gun. I've heard of people trying all the other stuff and still having them. heat even renders the eggs non viable

Wash all clothing and dry on high, store in vacuum sealed bags. Everything I don't absolutely need is stored in bins or large trash bags with Nuvan strips inside. Get a decent mattress/box spring protector. Diatomaceous earth EVERYWHERE. Steam the shit out of everything or douse it with alcohol.

Get the diatomaceous earth around the perimeter of your beds, in wall moldings, in your cabinets, and anywhere else you suspect they would pass through

We eventually found it was it a passed down baby crib we got.

Of course find them, kill em, and repeat.
You won't be able to see the eggs unless you search really hard.

We put a wrap(for bed bugs?) for our matress, the bad part was that the bottom/support had a hole. So we didn't know if thats where they were hiding.

Vacuum the walls, the corners, the floor...ya know with an extension. maybe no the walls, unless it has holes. Look under mattress, along the bed frame.

If it's just in one room you are good.
If it's more then one room this may take longer.

Also get rid of things you dont need.

Yeast traps are particularly good if you decide to evacuate your house while dusting it. Bedbugs will smell the carbon dioxide and come looking for you, and crawl through whatever you set out for them.

A traditional remedy in the nordic countries was to drill a lot of holes into a plank. Stick the plank into the bed at sleeptime, and dip it in boiling water in the morning. Bedbugs like hiding in holes, so you build them a hotel.

I beat them last December but it was fucking hard. The exterminators are banking on this shit and in most situations they do not have the means to really exterminate. They can only spray what they see. Not in the walls etc. I blame the exterminator for making it even harder and longer to deal with. I live in a triplex and for months we did everything but burn the place down. Finally we had a company come out and heat treat the entire building. 140 degrees for 8 + hours. It was $1,600.00 but worth it. It took one visit and we have been good since.

My parents got bed bugs from a painter they hired. Yep. He brought his drop cloths with him and left them bedbugs. In the end, three applications from an exterminator, tossing all the wood furniture, and replacing mattress, box springs and bedframes didn't completely get rid of them. I spread Sevin all over the floor and moved them out of the house for four days. Vacummed up the Devin with a HEPA vac and was finally done. Wouldn't wish the fuckers on my worst enemy.

This was after a year of fighting them myself and telling the landlord about them. (turns out the last tenants had known about it, too)

The first few nights I half-slept on the wooden floor of an empty room, just looking around at the floor near me, waiting. I still wake up with a start sometime, convinced they're on me.

never had them but had a job that dealt with alot of people who had them. nothing ever really gets rid of them at least exterminating doesnt. i read an interesting thing on here once though about a guy who said they get onto you by climbing the wall to teh ceiling then dropping down and if you put really strong double sided tape all around the wall they get stuck to it. dont know if it works but it sounded interesting

If you knew anything about bedbugs, you would know that replacing the bed would do nothing to resolve the problem, nor does being a slob have anything to do with it.

You can get bedbugs by standing next to someone else who has them, and they hitched a ride on their clothes. They get on you, you bring them home, and you're screwed. Furthermore, hauling a mattress with bedbugs on it through your house to remove it will just spread the bedbugs to other rooms.

The mattress may not contain the bedbugs. Most of the time it's the framing of the furniture. Bed bugs leave their dwelling to feed and follow chemical trails back. Buy DE, sprinkle it on every fucking thing, problem solved.

What I specifically did was, threw out my old bed, brought in a futon, then sprinkled DE around the legs, all along the walls, all in the carpet, and had huge piles of it under the bed and shit. I used almost a whole fucking bag.

They never bothered me again, and occasionally for a few weeks after, I'd see one crawling across the DE, slowly dying. Little fuckers are the most satisfying thing to watch die ever.

My dad is some paranoid fucker, and thought I was putting poison every where, but even while he still had bed bugs in his side of the house, mine was entirely fucking clean of them. Later after they were finally gone, I just vacuumed up the DE and went on with my life.

If anyone wants to bother reading my story and offer advice it would be helpful. Skip to the post below if you don't feel like reading the full version.

I'm in a college dorm and for a week after I moved in I kept itching and scratching. I assumed it was mosquitos at first, or maybe the sheet needed to be washed, but eventually realized it was bed bugs.
After this, I told the housing department and they let me stay in a small room that they have for problems like for a little while. The guys came that day, said they needed four hours to treat and everything, did their stuff and left. I was in the small room for a bit less than a week.
Packed up my stuff, went back to my normal room slept, and woke up a bit itchy. Thought I was just being paranoid and figured I'd wait till I actually saw bites. Woke up the next day, and the bites are there. I told the housing again and the exterminators they sent came and did their thing again, and changed the mattress.
I washed everything, bagged everything up and sealed it, and went back to the small room. They sent me an email telling me to wait until later for them to give me the okay to go back to my room because they wanted to do followup treatments or something. I'm pretty sure they never did anything, but I ended up staying in the small room for a month, just came back to my regular room after Columbus Day. They needed the small room for something else, so I had to go.
I slept in one bed for a few nights and while felt a little itchy didn't see any bites. Also did what the exterminator did when he was inspecting and lifted the beds and checked the lining for bugs and eggs and droppings, but didn't see anything. I slept on the other bed last night and now I have bite marks.
I really cannot go through the trouble of washing/drying everything for a third time, and this time I don't have a quarantine room to go to making things even harder.

It's not a full blown infestation, I imagine it must be small. When the exterminator came the first time it turned out the bed was infested with them, and there was no trouble spotting them. This time I can't even find any in the usual hiding spots.
I don't have a vacuum, nor a steamer. Walmart is kinda far, well outside walking distance. But there's a bus that I can take, but it's quite a hassle, so I like to limit my trips. I think there's also a Home Depot around there, but that's 10x more of a hassle.

What's the best course of action I should take, in anyone's opinion? Diatomaceous Earth? Invest in a handheld steamer? Yeast trap? Suck it up and ask them to send the exterminator again? Last note about that, I don't think they're allowed to really treat the room in depth, maybe for privacy issues or something. Probably why it didn't work the first two times.
I can post pics of the room if necessary, there's two of everything since I'm in a double and my roommate didn't show up.

Put a fine dust coating on every square inch of your floor, in corners, under beds, get a puff duster for small application points. Call the dalek emissary of your choosing with the highest reputation. Be prepared to throw out books, paperwork, clothing, bedding, electronics, don't argue, just do it. Fucking bedbugs man....

double sided carpet tape around your bed legs and entry ways, if you can't find them in the bed at least they will get stuck on the carpet tape as they try to get into your bed. Stays super sticky a good while, replace as needed.

Not really. They were nearly wiped out here until they banned the chemical that was wiping them out for health reasons. Then after it was banned they came back in full force. Some say the bedbugs also became immune to it.

When DDT came, it was one of the first chemicals in its class. Since it was something new, no bug was resistant to it. On top of that, people thought it was practically harmless and used it in massive quantities everywhere. Of course the results were impressive.
The days of miracles are long gone. DDT is reasonably effective at killing bugs, but nothing exceptional. The main benefits are low cost and the fact that one treatment stays effective for a relatively long time. That's why it is still used in some shithole countries when the local bugs aren't overly resistant to it.

I had them for 8 months. 8 horrible months of constantly waking up and checking sheets every night. I threw out my couch, two floor standing shelves and had to sleep on floor like hobo. Every weekend sprayed two full cans of insecticides in every crack and cranny I could, pulled up linoleum, sprayed foot-wide area all around room, steamed all my shit.. It was madness. Easier is to burn whole place down

Vacuum the box springs all over. I put some clear masking tape around the underside and corners of my box spring and alot of them got stuck to it and died.

OP, hire a guy to come in and eradicate them. Diatomaceous earth and water catchers under the posts of your bed might be effective sometimes, but if I were you I'd get an exterminator. Do it nice or do it twice. Don't fuck around with bedbugs.
