I'm restoring an old GE fan. I've taken the motor out and goofed by not taking careful consideration of the wiring prior to tear down. I've currently got the hot 5 connected to 2 and 4 and the neutral 5 connected to one and 3, at the suggestion of my electrician father. The motor makes a horrendous noise like a giant circuit breaker, but it works. Here's the thing, I explicitly remember that two of the 1-4 wires were connected to eachother. The motor is two fields, 110ac, shaded, single speed. Anybody have an idea as to how this should actually be hooked up? Thank you
