Quick question for a project I am about to start. The background is that I run a large club that plays survival games and we occasionally have to use objectives. We currently use rinsed out tea bottles with glow sticks but have a lot of problems with them such as dud glow sticks, people throwing them out thinking they are trash and etc... So I wanted to make a new objective marker. The basics I want to include is it being durable and the ability to have a light that switches colors. This part is easy for me to get, the hard part I don't know what to do with is because I am paranoid I want a security measure for if it gets stolen, preferably a way to track its position within a radius of about a half mile if possible. Whether it's the exact location or just telling me a general direction, I want a method to keep track of them. I don't know what to search or look into learning about because all I get so far is links to third party trackers for a monthly fee and are typically excessive. I think RfID's sound like the way to go but was hoping for some help from an actual person because I still don't understand it all. Any input would be appreciated.
