I've had some success using one of those. It was about the only thing that would take the dirt off.

I don't understand manufacturers wanting to make refrigerator handles out of that textured plastic they use. They are indeed difficult to clean.
I currently have a different problem with mine: Exposure to light has caused my handles to turn yellow.

try water based cleaner, if that doesn't work try alcohol based cleaner.. if that doesn't work try abrasive scrubbing, but that may mar the surface..

worse case sand the top layer of plastic off with very fine sandpaper....

try spraying some rusoleum white spraypaint on the handles. I did alot of work with spraypaints and i think it would really help. of course mark off the rest of the fridge with tape so overspray.

The plastic has a flame retardant in it. Thats what makes it yellow.

Oxiclean and hydrogen peroxide. Google it lots of info on deyellowing plastic with it. Get the 35% hydrogen stuff from hair salons.

Remove the handles, and do this>>892355. You'll have to make a paste by mixing in something to those ingredients. Google retrobrite for more info. I used this on old computer stuff with a low concentration hydrogen peroxide, but it the higher the better. I also use corn starch as a thickener, but there are other thickeners that are better.
