>>893120Heh, I have farming stock on my dad's side. Back in the 1950s, farm cats were standard practice - these animals were not domestic pets, they were violent killing machines that stayed on the farm because there was shelter and food guaranteed.
When the rats got bad though, all the cats were grabbed and put in a wood store for a few days with water, but no food. The farmer would open the barn doors, stand clear and release the cats... less than an hour later, well fed cats, and no more rats.
Also, used to keep a few Jack Russells around the farm, brilliant ratters. One shake to snap the neck of the rat, efficient, energetic and vicious bastards those dogs, when trained right.
