Hi, I would like to build DIY cnc machine that can drill steel (or even hard steel) piece like the 3d printer can drill perfect the wood and polymer, but after some search on google i dont find good tuto, just some idea like concrete structure so im asking if it is possible and if yes how do this ? thanks

If you're just drilling steel I see no reason for CNC capabilities. If you're wanting to shape steel look into CNC mills.

gingery has a book on making your own mill from scrap
you need to build the lathe and shaper first though
buy the books while you can they are out of print now

ok, yes op it is possible, why wouldnt it be. but man, if you are designing your own, you just make it rigid enough to drill steel

so, a solid as fuck frame, probably steel , it can be done with alu extrusions if you set up your cam properly to reduce load on the frame n shit

also, dont say "perfect" it will never be that.

yeah, i don't know why they think this, either. If you're going to just etch or route something...sure. But anything complicated means tool changes, feed speed rates, g code, usually machine customization, etc. I just tell them the same thing every time - got to cnczone and see if you still want to "make a CNC" before you have ever welded, punched, formed, drilled anything in your life.
