I'm interested in casting silver using the lost wax process. However, I've read that an investment casting table is needed to make the silver take to the mold properly. A casting table starts at ~$800, so I want to make my own. I heard that one can be made with a vacuum pump, some fittings, and some basic welding. Does anyone know about this? I've found a lot of vague guides to making one but not yet one with a parts list, steps, etc.
