Any way, yea you can. Also. some companies will have two version (or more) of a monitor. For example, one will have USB ports, but the other will have the holes (covered) and places on the PCB for USB ports and what not. Whatever monitor you are using, check to see if there are places where ports and other parts could be added on.
Reason why they do this is so they only have to make one case and one PCB instead of two, one for the cheaper version and one for the higher end version.
