does this have potential to be a nice lamp ?
mostly not sure about what kind of nice light to use, switch etc i thing i know what ill do

though about just getting a G4 220v led hanging off the top pipe and put a bottle there filled with oil to look nice

though about it, but the pipe is too small for a e27, might just get a new pipe adapter to be able to fit an e27 in there

i was thinking that if you got rid of that first elbow joint and had it curve down just once, it would look good mounted as a reading lamp next to a bed.

It's a great idea either way.

First time I saw one of these lamps I kinda wanted to make one. Lightbulb wiring kit was $8, edison bulb $5, and I've got like 3 places around my apartment it would work wonderfully in.

Went to homely despot and found black pipe fittings like that would total up to about $60. Even more for the raw brass fittings which would look cooler.

I am not paying $75+ for a lamp.I'm now jealous of the all the construction guys that can get this stuff for free from demolition jobs.

Each piece of that lamp is about $1.75-$2 based on home depot internet prices, I would do a few things different, but it would be around 25-30 pieces. After taxes it would be about $50+ for the pipes alone. Forget making a larger floor lamp for next to a sitting/reading chair.

Add about $1 per part for copper or brass equivalents. I'd want to polish them up a bit with high grit paper, then seal it with a clear lacquer... increasing the cost even more.

That could chop prices in half. And what is stopping you from asking those nice construction workers if you could get some elbows and stuff. Bribe'em with doughnuts and coffee if you have to.

maybe you could adjust your project a bit and use copper fittings instead ? and a long pipe for the neck of the lamp idk prices there, but the smallest 9ft pipe here was about the same price as i payed on the black metal

Eh, I kinda like the look of all the fittings and short sections of tubing, I wouldn't really want a long ass tube with 3-4 fittings.
