Is "copper" spray paint conductive enough to function as a base for electroplating copper on plastic (i.e: for plating through holes) ? Is it conductive at all?

search for proper conductive copper paint with flakes of copper in it and look at the price.

Also, how about guitar "shielding" paint? Is it conductive? I have no access to the proper materials to make conductive carbon paint, so whenever I attempted the result was crap, but it almost worked (copper stuck to it during the electrodeposition).

Guitar shielding paint has conductive flakes all through it, but they're probably not dense enough to get a continuous conductive surface out of. You can buy metal flake as pigment and mix it with glycerine and enough of some binder to hold it together and run it through an airbrush if you can't find actual conductive paint.

I have tried this with limited success. Had better results with clear acrylic lacquer than with acrylic paint. The ink used for making membrane keyboards seem to be really good for this, but it's really expensive and impossible to find.
