>>2935459That's why we, well, a collection of billionaires and private industry, are going to mine asteroids to create resources from space.
This will initially, for the most part, be used to further mining in space and help build spaceports.
After a while, those resources will also trickle down to the planet via dropships for use down here.
Also, fun fact, efficient vertical farming systems can effectively feed 15 billion people on less land than we currently use for farming. Much less.
So much less in fact that we'd only need a huge industrial-scale complex in each city to feed the entire city.
Smaller towns and villages could be more central and have delivery, but that would still be better than full-on national or global travel for said food.
Why do we not do it? We literally pay farmers to not make food right now. Our society is fucking broken at the core, that is why.
Private industry is sadly the only thing that is going to change the way the world works, not government, not elections, nothing.
Do your bit, help support private enterprise to further our future.
