EVERY SINGLE fucking creepy thing on the internet fails at subtlety. I have no idea why.
Look at SCP shit, or any halfway decent creepypasta, or whatever. The ideas are fine, the buildup can even be great, but then the execution is "wooo be sacred now!". The entire fucking point of horror is to set up a confusing or unusual situation, and then leave the audience to come to horrific conclusions; yet no-one online seems even vaguely aware of that.
"Weather warning issued: due to the brightness of the event, do not look at the sky until sunrise tomorrow". is creepy as fucking hell.
"Creeping through the mirror it's not light it's blood im drowning" isn't even mildly concerning.
