Me too. Also, I actually think the OP pic is a good fit. Just ignore everything above the neck, and it looks great.

Here's what I think. /fa/ sees that beard and haircut, and immediately dismisses this guy's fit. I mean, I'm not a fan of "beard culture" or MFA, but sometimes you have to look past that stuff for the actual fit.

or you can buy them lined with thinsulate/goretex or shearling fur

You are doing something wrong
Treat the shoes with leather oil during winter, it will protect the leather from snow and water and just generally keep the leather in good condition.
