I totally understand that it alienates a lot of people. I have stuff that looks more traditional for occasions when it is necessary, but this style suits me for my daily life. I figure if a person isn't going to treat me with respect based on the way that I dress then I don't really want to interact with them anyway. I look to bring open-minded, caring people into my life and my sense of fashion acts as a kind of filter for certain people.

Oh, and I don't really think it is "refined." I just think of it as how I feel most comfortable dressing. I don't judge other people based on their clothing choices (unless it is positively), I don't put myself on some higher pedestal just because I have done research and spent money.

Obviously I make judgements about people, but the way they dress has little to do with it. Just because a person is wearing a Nazi uniform does not mean that he is doing or going to do something wrong. Depending on the person's body language and other social cues I may ask about why he is wearing it avoid him entirely. The clothing would help, but only if he seemed suspicious otherwise.

Yeah, it's funny, none of my friends have a similar style to me. I am 100% sure there are other people who like black and have a similar mentality to me, I just haven't met any.

I definitely get some of that quite condescension, but again, that is from people who I don't want any relationship with so what do I care if they want to get worked up about something as petty as the way I dress.
