is it rude/annoying to just tell your barber to cut your hair how they think it suits your face?

I have no idea what hairstyle I want and have been putting off a haircut so long that I can't wait anymore

Not OP. Is there a good way of finding out what haircuts suits your head and face? I would post a picture of my current hair in a relevant thread but I feel like so many people do it already and it shits up the board, I'd rather not be a part of that. I just want a general guideline to what works and doesn't work.
