For those of you who started lifting with starting strength: When did you realise you should change your program and what did you change it to?

>>34730028 >tfw i've lost 65 lbs in a year with no cardio at all >tfw just started going to the gym 5 months ago >tfw already bench lmao2pl8 @ 210lbs, 6'4" 17% bf Get your shit together, SS is a great program developed by someone who has spent years of his life to this area, not by some NEET who has been going a couple months to the gym, if you want to lose weight and look good, fix your diet, dont shit on the program fam

I think it's due to genetics though I have always been pretty strong, just out of shape for a few years, I think SS is good for starting off, I ran with it for 2 and a half months.

My back is a literal disaster. I have severe kiphosis, mild lordosis and a slightly forward head. This really fucks up my form on squats and deads (to have a neutral spine i have to hyperextend it and this lead to overdeveloped spinal erectors) and I have to walk around pushing trough my hips and shoulders to avoid appearing like the lanky faggot I am. Will this improve by becoming swole? Are there any particular exercises that are going to help?

>>34729762 Not him, but it seems like you have alot of anger bottled up inside of you. Have you thought about seeking professional help?
Anonymous
>>34729818 Naah, i hit a rough patch, broke up with long term gf, had to move back with my parents for the time being. Plus it's fridayso i just kinda started early. But i appreciate the advice, i did seek some help, hence the diazepam, but there's nothing to but wait till time heals the wounds. A rebound chick would be nice, but too autistic for that.

In what way do genes influence training? I get how they act on what you look like (insertions, muscle bellies, bone thickness), but are there genes for how you put on muscle, how you keep them, etc?
Anonymous

Genes may make you have higher or lower levels of testosterone and other hormones that help you with lifting.

>>34729662 Also your genetics determine how much of the two different types of muscle fibers you'll have. If you have more fast twitch in a certain are, that muscle might respond better to higher rep exercises than low-mid rep range.

>>34729244 How well do they act, how well do they adapt, the ammount of each type of muscle fibers, myosin levels, muscle-mind connection. E.g. I have ADHD, my muscle-mind connection goes above the levels of normal human beings, while that sounds good in theory, in practice it means I'm clumsy as fuck because every movement I do is exaggerated.

If you had one sport to train for to balance between looking good and performance, it would be olympic lifting. You dont even need to perform the competition lifts to get muscle gainz. Obviously youll do poorly if you dont have the technique down when you do a snatch and shit. But I mean if you do the typical olympic lifting assistance lifts, youll get jacked.>High bar and front squat >Snatchgrip deadlift >bunch of pullups and rows >overhead presses and push presses >power cleans Granted in powerlifting you can also do a bunch of assistance lifts that will build muscle, but so many fuck up their powerlifting training and look like dinosaurs. PL has a bunch of great muscle building movements too.>CGBP and incline >pause squats >barbell work including rows and shit, shrugs, idk
