I'd love to start working on a home gym but not while I'm still living the apartment life. Also, there is something to be said for getting out of the house and being forced to be in the vicinity of human beings

i've been using this for the past year
along with standard barbell (max capacity of ~275 lbs)
with standard plates (total around 350lbs) and an adidas bench
pair of sawhorses

altogether around $300. pretty good bargain imo

the height works perfectly and i have only tested ~250 lbs from squat position. never tried dropping any heavier weights on them directly. in a pinch, i would have to slowly bring the barbell down onto them and let go. if I didn't live on the 3rd floor, i would have tried to drop it from standing position and really test it out.

Does anyone know how accurate non-digital scales are?

I have one and I'm not sure how accurate it is. I put a 20lb weight on it, and it read 20, tried a 30 lb weight and it was also accurate, but I still get a feeling it's reading me lighter at higher loads, like when I stand on it.

Should I trust it? Should I shop for an alternative scale?

Try standing on it, then standing on it with a 30 or both weights, see if it adds exactly 50 pounds or whatever, then you should have your answer
