>>34665532not really.
most protein recommendations are absurdly high.
the average weightlifter off the street used about .55g per pound of LBM
an olympian used .77
given the fact most people grossly overestimate their own protein synthesis rates, and grossly underestimate their bodyfat%, they tend to eat more protein than necessary even with this information.
but to illustrate on the difference between 1g/lb (conventional broscience recommendation) and .55/lb of LBM:
if you have a fatass who weighs 250 (bf% of ~35), he might think he needs 250grams of protein, because he is a fucktard who did zero research.
but if you subtract the 87.5 (ish) pounds, then multiply the result by .55 (pretty safe to assume this is still more protein than you are synthesizing), that leaves you with 89g of protein, as opposed to 250g.
so a lot of misconceptions about protein synthesis arise from this discrepancy.
that fatass stops tracking his protein, stops drinking protein shakes, and his natural diet still has ~90g protein (veggies and shit have protein too, shit adds up like raindrops in a barrel, just ask a retarded vegan faggot)
he is still eating more protein than his body will possibly synthesize without steroids.. so he thinks protein is bullshit.
but really all it is, is you don't need fucktons of protein.
a little bit goes a long way.
