How do you account for the negative calories in water?

A calorie is a measurement actually determined by water.
A calorie is defined as the energy required to raise the temperature of 1g of water by 1 degree C.
So drinking a lot of cold water would actually be negative calories because the body will passively expend energy heating it up to body temperature.

I'll bite,
It takes 1 cal of energy to raise 1g of water by 1°C. 1g=1ml for water, so 1L =1 kg.
If you drink 1L of water from the fridge (you have to raise its temp by 37-4=33°C), that is 33 kcal burned.

33kcal. And your teeth will hurt like a motherfucker.

I have found that the energy used for heating the water I drink usually cancels out with the calories I gain from eating spiders and insects while sleeping...
So I don't bother tracking anymore

This thread is full of bullshit.

The energy you assimilate by eating (the one you traditionnaly count, aprox 2 kcal a day) is not the total energy that enters you body.

If you want to go into the details of your body thermodynamics, you would have to count a lot more things.

Breathing (matter in/matter out)
Sweating
Bloodflow
etc...

Ofc this is too complicated to do, so we use a approximated number to express the "energy" your body consumes daily.
