Hi /fit/.
I suffer from ME-CFS and SEID (systemic exertion intolerance), meaning I have constant pain, very little energy, and when I exert myself I end up bedridden the next day or two. I've been told that it's unlikely I'll ever recover. I want to try to get fit; I've been trying to get into a gym routine for a while now, aiming for three times a week.
I'm looking for pointers on my routine, any changes I could make to help out with the impact on my fatigue while still working towards staying healthy. Here's my current routine:
A
20-30 minutes light cardio/warmup
5-10 minutes stretching
5x5 squats
5x5 bench press
5x5 barbell rows
B
20-30 minutes cardio
5-10 minutes stretching
5x5 squats
5x5 overhead barbell press
1x5 deadlifts
I don't know what other info might be useful for you to have. I'm not obese or overweight, but I'm unhappy with my current weight/bf% (174 lbs at 5'10). I do all exercises using barbells, not machines, and my cardio is usually very light jogging, on an inclined treadmill. I go to the gym with my girlfriend, who is trying to lose weight, and she insists on at least 20-30 minutes of cardio before starting. She does the same routine as me, just with much less weight. I wait between 90 seconds and 3 minutes between sets, depending on how tired I feel. I'm slowly increasing the weight I use each time I return to a set, except for squats which I increase on B days only.
I'm pretty new to working out, so I'm greatly appreciative of any tips or pointers. I did read the sticky, which I used to put together my routine. Thanks for any help you can give.
