Is it possible to get gainz while being a distance runner? I was having this discussion with a friend who is still in high school and runs xc/track.
Take a 10-12th grader thats about 5'9" 130, skelly mode. Lets say his 5k is under 19, and his mile is around a 5:30. He runs 50 miles a week.

Would there be a way for this avg runner to be able to get any visible gains without adding on more than 10lbs and taking a major hit to his times?

I say no, but my friend insists that with enough protein, you can gain a decent amount of muscle with minimum weight gain.

What do you believe is correct.
