Regarding one white kid, no, I'm not having one, I'm having several. But generally speaking you're right, the European/EastAsian strategy is mostly quality over quantity.
The reason third world populations are outnumbering us and growing faster is because conditions in their part of the world are chaotic so quantity is everything. If everyone you know dies in a famine or racial war (and that's what African wars are usually) you have better fucked some chick as far away from your home as possible, better yet several, just fuck everything that moves.
It doesn't work that way in the West anymore. Conditions have stabilized so much that even through two world wars similar populations held similar regions and noone was wiped out entirely.
Success is about being good at something in Western society. With that in mind, show me a "successful" African and I'll show you an African who plans ahead, has a few kids with only one woman, two women at most, and supports his children for longer before they become independent. That is how you maximize your chances in civilized society. Meanwhile hood rats have more babies but they NEVER make it out of the hood.
The average White person has gone over the edge due to being smart enough for birth control. These old couples who have one or no kids were just too smart to slip up or get impulsive enough to say fuck it. Future white people won't inherit that trait and the population numbers will recover. Not sure if this will be during our lifetime though. Maybe we can accelerate it with a new ideology.
