Gaining Muscle on a Caloric Deficit

No.34721025 ViewReplyReportDelete
Supposing I get my protein intake right, do I still need a caloric surplus to gain muscle after beginner's gains?

3 years ago I discovered /fit/, quit buying supplements and started SS. After an hiatus, a split period, new alimentary habits and discovering bodyweight training I'm on my best shape, finally being able to see my (shitty) abs for the first time in my life.
BF is 12% or even less, definition is perfect, legs are finished but I still need a bit more upper body mass. Gonna add some arms/shoulders isolations to my routine but I fear bulking.

3 years ago I would get 1700 calories and feel like exploding, now I easily handle 3000kcal/day. My fear is getting used to eat at 2700, gaining mass/fat and struggling to return to a lower bodyfat. I would prefer staying at 2100-2300 calories if possible, but that's a caloric deficit. Thoughts?
