I found a user's guide online and it says to clean the drum head. Problem is it says just using some cotton swaps or water will clean it but the glue or whatever it is isn't coming off by that. Can I use a tiny bit of water or something to wipe it?

i am so confused, i have zero idea how SSDS "work", pic related

so i bought the ssd because phpstorm and shit would take ages to load among other things, my laptop would sit idle on boot at 100% disk usage and literally would not function unless i just let it sit there for a few.

Yet pic related once i installed the SSD, this is me starting all my dev tools at once, its even "slower" at 100% right now than my HDD ever was, the only "problem"?

The computer isnt slugging one bit, its obviously not a problem just confusing the shit out of me.

Did i not need the SSD? maybe i just needed a new HDD (still extremely happy with this sandisk plus in my 420 wither way)

or is that a 'feature' of flash memory, since its not a spinning disk, its easier for windows to pull those files it needs while its still "tapped out".

i mean obviously everything slows back down to like 1% once its all loaded and im going about my business for the day, its not sitting at 100% all day, just a really confusing question.

Cant root without bootloader which wipes the device.
Cant do adp as it wont copy the /system folder unrooted.

I just installed pic related so I could work on some .odt files I made a couple years back. It's been a while since I haven't used it, I mostly use Office.

I don't know what is going on, but everything is incredibly slow. Dragging the window to snap on top of the screen takes like five seconds. Scrolling down a couple lines takes two seconds for the screen to refresh completely. Zooming in and out with Ctrl+Wheel takes at least three seconds. If I type in the document, letters appear "instantly", but if I Ctrl+Z to erase words, each word takes like two seconds to disappear.

The documents I'm editing are just one page long, too. Microsoft Word can display and edit the document as quick as I'd expect. This is a fresh install of LibreOffice, on a fairly quick machine, with up-to-date everything, a legit copy of Windows, a legit antivirus, etc...

Any ideas guise?

I have two monitors and I need a program for tweaking my screen layout. I had a program for my last Linux installation, but I forgot what it's called. It was simply a matter of "drag and drop" to set the screen layout, and it did exactly what I wanted it to do without any more bloat.

Does anyone know what program I'm talking about, or know of a program that does the same thing?

I used furmark and it says its at 79c. do I need a cooler ?

give that a shot first, but if you're furmarking at 80c IMHO that's decent, but i havent bought a card since my asus 5870 (which would only ever tap out at 80-85 unless i maxed out the fan) and that had a SLIGHT overclock.

also do you have a shitty PSU? that caused a LOT of issues for my rig back in the day, my grandpa even joked that i fucked up building my pc (old MS cert kinda guy) then my PSU smoked and i smelled the bad smell.

obviously he was joking but it felt like he cursed it.

That seems like maybe you are missing a storage driver or something ? My SSD has never pegged out like that yet in any sort of monitoring program.

The other idea is that maybe its saturating the interface : i know that some computers that are SATAII and SATAIII dont even run anywhere near the speeds they are "rated" for, and instead are artificially limited in the bios to a much lower speed for stability supposedly.

its just funny because unlike my HDD, the computer still runs at top speed when it tops out.

im just using whatever win10 gave it, should i go find a driver from sandisk?

it could also be that windows 10 just has an issue with that particular SSD : maybe there is a firmware update, maybe a driver, who knows so as you suggested maybe see if sandisk has an update or patch utility for it.
Windows 10 is not something I have even messed with yet because 'Enduro graphics' don't work yet.

It is a good thing to do, but make sure you do NOT spin the fans with compressed air (hold the fans down when you spray the radiators).
Spinning the fans will generate a voltage that could kill some components on the boards they're attached to.

the air cleans dust out of the radiators so that the ventilators can run cool air through them. If the radiators are clogged, air won't pass through and your card will heat up.
I wouldn't expect dust to settle so fast in new hardware, but you never know. It's worth taking a look, at least.

I don't see where you could stick an extra heatsink - we're talking about a GPU here, correct?

Having an extra fan in your case for blowing in more fresh air or extracting hot air should always help.

I've done it before successfully with "Shark" (an Android equivalent of Wireshark). It only worked with free apps tho, the paid ones are transmitted encrypted.

- Close any programs that will transmit data
- Launch a Shark capture
- Download your Play Store app
- End the Shark capture
- Transmit the capture file to a PC, open it with Wireshark, extract the .apk.
- ?????
- PROFIT!!!!

I am upgrading my PC soon since my CPU is bottle necking hard now.

good idea. remember you want to suck in cool air and exhaust hot air, place your fans accordingly. there are entire threads about this in the archives.

You can remove your current radiator and ventilator, and replace them with something more efficient, or even a water-cooled solution (there are even closed-loop kits available).

It's not the most trivial thing to do though, if you're inexperienced.
