I built an effects pedal for my guitar using an AVR micontroller (the same one in the Arduino). I also make an AM radio transmitter once; I thought that was pretty cool. It's a fun hobby but it takes a long time to build anything good. I wish I had more time to spend on it.

Just finished my ghetto directional bi-quad antenna. Made from cardboard, kitchen foil, a shit ton of glue and a cookie box. Shit works pretty well and gets 25-30% better Wi-Fi signal when tuned correctly.

Yeah I'm a ham radio nerd and I experiment with magnetic loop and fractal antennas.

I am also designing the ultimate crystal radio but it will be a while before I build the thing.

I'm making my own speed controller for PWM fans, but I've been lazy and haven't worked on it for a while now.

Hardware is pretty basic, I spent more time writing a GUI control application that's sufficiently flexible and configurable for my needs.

It just connects to the standard RP-SMA connector used on the majority of consumer WiFi equipment. You could use whatever connector you want though. This video explains everything on how it works and how to make one.
