so i was helping a friend who had his computer infected by some couponi virus that hijacks your browsers. I managed to get it off, then later in the day he asks me to add more ram. after changing the sticks, i notice only bout 700mb of the second card is being used. i uncheck the max ram thing in msconfig but it doesn't work. i try msconfig again and notice selective install is checked and i change it to full startup or something like that. after restarting i get a screen similar to this one. pretty sure it's fake though because pressing f8 or ctrl alt del just makes the screen flash and i hear the cd booting. i can disconnect the drive and boot the recovery cd but then i can't access the drive if i reconnect it after the cd boots. i can't change the boot order because this damn screen pops up before anything. i also can't access the drive to edit stuff from another computer because it's locked. how the fuck do I get past this EFEI shit. Why is it even there? clearly it didn't stop some random ransom virus from hijacking the boot, but it does stop me from being able to fix anything.
