Chromecast 2 has more wifi antennas and supports 5ghz. If you live in apartment the og Chromecast will struggle because of interference. Mine stutters when I turn on the microwave but aside from that it's fine.

Faster, and full 1080p rendering/display. Old one will output 1080p, but all content renders at 720p.

And when I say faster, I mean a fuckton faster. Youtube used to have a tangible, lengthy delay in starting up. Now, I hit cast, and shit is on my screen and playing in less than 5 seconds.

Chromecast is literally the best fucking thing I've ever purchased.

For starters you can cast any video you find on the web, kisscartoon, kissanime, animehaven, movietubenow and couchtuner all work beautifully. Just tap the cast icon and everything works on its own.

x264 torrented media stored on my network drive runs perfectly on the thing thanks to localcast. You can also use Plex to play unsupported filetypes. You can also send images and music from your phone to the TV when you have friends over.

Youtube is also nice to use on the big screen.

Everything's controlled by my phone that sits on my bedside table. When a video starts playing, I can make calls or surf the internet on my phone since everything is asynchronous. The Chromecast is also HDMI-CEC compliant so you can pause and play content with your TV's remote control.

It's truly amazing.

Got the second gen of chromecast yesterday.
Suprised how well it works for this small price.
Also streaming music from services like 8tracks look nice on the stream.
The thing it, the chromecast gets the music/movie itself from the internet.
