I recently upgraded from an old duo and 2gb DDR2 and let me tell you this: gaming used to be a fucking nightmare. Everything worked slow, I would run out of RAM all the fucking time (so it could only handle 1 big task - either browser either games) and my PC couldn't even handle youtube 1080p60fps, and even Arch chocked when trying to run a bigger PKGBUILD (like when I was trying to install ATI drivers...). After getting my octa FX and 8 DDR3, everything started running much much more smoothly and without problems.

I'm currently on some shitty laptop with Intel Pentium 987 @ 1.5GHz, whatever that is, intel HD3000 and 4GB of some shit ram and shit like youtube, facebook, any news site and even 4chan with userscript is fucking awful
loads slowly, responses to mouse clicks slowly, it's shit
there's been a slight improvement after upgrading from win 7 to 10, but it's still shit

2 nix-shell with an emacs session and a cabal repl + one cabal build running along side, ghc is heavy
and a torrent client

grand total? 1500~ MB. This is ""power-use" and it doesn't use more than 2GB. So I call bullshit that you need more power

The OS is designed to use low power on most situations. Sometimes it will lag or latency on the network will be higher. normally the power parameter are in conservative mode.

So your ""apps" are running slower just because it can't extract all the juice because it would last an hour a day.
