>>51018390On boot it's actually a bit slower than the SATA SSD on my laptop, that's because I'm doing UEFI Linux and the NVMe driver appears to be shit or I appear to be an idiot. Windows it's probably fine.
In terms of actual read/writes? Well yeah, it's the real fucking deal. The lowest speeds I get are around 200 MB/s, I usually get 700-800, and if I just write a file of 0's I can write over a GB in under a second.
>>51018399>How much more bandwidth does the PCI-E port have than an M.2 port?I think M.2 technically uses PCIe or something? Maybe SATAe, either way it's at least double regular SATA3. If it's truly PCI then it's 5x the speed.
>Also I was wondering if Linux has any problems booting with M.2?It boots from an NVMe device just fine (for the most part). I don't know if M.2 uses the SATA drivers or NVMe, but it'll work for sure.
>>51018449The only time you'd really notice it is at boot or running a VM on it or something. 2 GB/s vs. 500 MB/s when you're reading files that are, on average, lower than 100 MB? The difference will be almost imperceptible.
