>>51020903>Mac gets no virusesFalse. I used to work at an AASP and we had to fix people's virus problems ALL THE TIME. I started treating Macs the same as I always treated Windows computers doing tech support. Same thing, just different OS. The good thing is since OS X doesn't have a registry it's often easier to clean up the viruses without doing a complete wipe/reinstall.
But yeah, Macs are basically just fancy, expensive PCs. It's not a bad thing, since they are nice machines, but they aren't God-tier.
Also HFS+ is garbage. I've personally never had a problem with it but I had to repair broken filesystems on Macs like once a week at least and sometimes the data was unrecoverable without running forensic data recovery. I never had that problem with Windows unless the drive was actually failing.
With Windows if the drive was still good I could just run chkdsk /f and it would fix it, with Macs you just hope disk utility can fix the corrupted volume and not throw invalid B-tree node errors all over the place and then tell you to fuck yourself, back up your stuff and start from scratch.
