I remember 8800GT fags saying their GT was faster.
At lower settings it did in fact become as fast, but it lacked bandwidth so if you raised resolution the FPS went down the shitter while the GTX kept going.

At that time I was using a riva tnt2, couldn't be arsed to get an upgrade as I could lower fidelity while keeping 1024x768 at 40?fps to play moh:aa online.
Now I'm a spoiled piece of shit that will not run anything below max 1080x1920 and at a minimum of 90fps
