for the same money you could probably get a g3258, so check the benchmarks that are applicable to you, ie - encoding / rendering / games. And take it from there.

I would say yes the i5 750 is still a pretty powerful CPU but the lack of PCIe lanes would make it less than optimal for high end games.

I'll only be using a single gpu, and maybe a pcie usb 3.0 board.

My current cpu is a q8300, but I can't overclock more than 100mhz thanks to the mobo shitting itself when I try to push the fsb higher than 340mhz. (stock is 333).
