What's the point of me getting straight A's in college for Web Developers/Programmers/Server Admins and doing several internships if I just got a job only based on all the certifications I had?

They didn't even bother looking at my GPA, they just cared about the certifications, work experience, and how I performed a live test in front of them. Shit, and it's not even a bad job for a college graduate, they offered me 50k a year contract.

For those curious it was a job as a front end designer.

Don't worry about the grades besides getting at least C's. Grades are only important for medfags, lawfags, and a few other professional schools.

Just worry about learning practical skills that will stick with you. I totally regret all the bullshit I memorized when I could have focused my time on the parts of the courses that were really helpful. I've found myself reviewing certain critical skills that I should have gotten right the first time.

If you focus on the important shit, you won't have to worry about grades unless you have an autistic desire to get A's.

I don't know how they hire teachers in colleges. At least in mine no one in the fucking computer science building knew about certifications and how much they matter until one senior professor said it in a senior level class. Fucking retarted that 70% of the people who graduated didn't have a single certificate while I had at least 8 on my name, even messy ones like the adobe experts and microsoft one for web designing.

Shit bro, it's like they just expect to graduate with just A's (I did too, but I also did my certs knowing they would help a ton because of research). Shit man, this made me realize how worthless those 4 years were and how different it would be if I knew this beforehand.

Colleges are good if they have really expensive equipment that you want access to early while you are building your skillset.

But yeah, I was an idiot when I entered college and really was only smart enough to realize the waste of money until AFTER I graduated.

Guess what, any fucking monkey that knows tech basics can be trained to do sys admin, or Web dev, or programming. All they care about is how you do in the environment, will you be a productive worker. For that you need experience, mainly achieved through coop and internships. Get used to it.
