The cheapest LEDs you can buy have about 75% accurate colour reproduction, the midrange (e.g. ikea ones) have around 90% accurate, and the high-end ones (e.g. soraa) have around 95% accurate colour reproduction. In terms of colour, LED bulbs are a significant improvement over virtually any kind of fluorescent lamp, and are not far behind incandescent. In terms of power consumption they are obviously much better.
You can buy LEDs with diffusers just fine, I'm using one right now.
LEDs themselves are not intrinsically dimmable\non-dimmable, it depends on the type of driver the LED is using.
LEDs offer a variety of other advantages over conventional bulbs. Right now the most interesting is probably being able to dynamically vary the colour temperature.
