Another problem is that these providers generally don't compete with each other, so some areas only have Comcast, others only have Charter, etc...Must of us unfortunately only have 2 choices, either evil cable or slower DSL/pretend fiber (AT&T U-Verse).
Luckily fiber is coming, and Comcast is fucked. I can't wait.
