Is there anything more useless than this piece of hardware from Apple. Please explain why this would be useful. Can iPhone even be set to Stay awake to be used as a desk clock or something similar?

BTW this costs around 50 shekels here in Europe.

It is not useless. It is unnecessary, but so are most things people buy. If someone gave me that dock I would use it because having that charge my phone would look pretty nice.

It's easier to use than futzing with a free-laying cable.

You can connect speakers to it and they'll just work without futzing with one more free-laying cable.

It's hardly the worst thing to buy with disposable income.

No docks are.
Cables just work.

This. I have samsung dock for my Note and audio out is far more important than desktop clock mode. But in my case I have desktop, two laptops and that dock all connected to a single pair of IEMs through a mixer.
