Got a good deal on a 2010 mbp for $400, though I've never used osx before, I know you can run windows on it, but I want to boot directly into windows, and not use bootcamp. How do install Windows directly using efi?

I myself am an applefag (2015 rMBP) but you wasted $400. You shouldn't buy any MBP earlier than 2012. You literally bought a Facebook and streaming machine that will struggle with even that. Shitty purchase OP. Try to get your money back and buy a MBP that has modern technology.

I have a 2011 mbp. With a SSd and more memory it runs pretty well. Battery is usually 4 hours, 5 at best.

You dun goof'd OP, shouod have gotten the late 2012 with i5 and at least 500MB VRAM

Mine is showing it's age but love it like the day i got it

just install it as you normally would

put the dvd in, press the power button, then tap 'c' just after the chime plays to get it to boot from the optical drive

get drivers from here;
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1837
(maybe an older version is needed, i don't know)

note that the bootcamp osx software is just a glorified boot manager and partitioner, you still run windows itself 'normally', it's not a VM or anything, so you still use the bootcamp drivers even if you only have windows installed
