I am a beginning programmer and I have a question for some of the more seasoned programmers on this site.

I am applying for an entry level job at a trucking GPS company looking for an application developer. I would like an idea on a simple yet useful program I could write in python to add to my previously completed portfolio. I am by no means a bad programmer but I am very new to python(2 weeks). I have been programming in C++, Javascript, and PHP for about a year so I know enough to know I don't really know shit. My main issue has always been the beginning stages of the program. How will the program flow, whats its goal, how to I determine the steps needed for it to function. Simple stuff that pros like some of you take for granted. Are there any tips in general or ideas for a program that any of you could give me that a trucking company would find interesting?

As I said before its entry level and I have spoken with the Sr developer and he has stated the right attitude will get me in the door. He knows how long I have been working with python but I would like to show him something to let him know I am serious about doing my best and growing with his team.
