What would /g/ do?

Screw is stripped and trying to bend the aluminum back will probably do more harm than good. Should I mend the pieces together with aluminum epoxy?

Yeah, if it wasn't caused by an accident it has to be a battery expansion.

Please, do NOT clamp the thing. The last thing you want to do is risk making the battery explode or something. The battery is already toast at this point and the system should not be used at all until the battery is removed entirely. These things can explode or catch fire.

Forgot to add: even if the machine is out of warranty you might try giving Apple a call and getting it escalated to customer relations.

I did this for an iPod touch that suffered from the same thing and after escalating the case and stressing the fact that it was a fire hazard they agreed to replace it despite being a couple years out of warranty.
