So I'm using a Phenom II for 4K gaming. My primary stations mainboard is broken, so this needs to work until I get a new one. Games are only Mass Effect and Warframe.

They work good in 4K most of the time. But I have strange drops that can't be explained with 99% CPU/GPU. But my RAM is always at 3.5 GB. Could upgrading solve this?

Otherwise, the SSD runs on SATA/1.0 without AHCI. My mainboard does NOT support it. I bought a PCI card that worked good, but now I can't boot anymore. Windows will start loading and reboot, after 3 times the automatic repair opens up. This could be another bottleneck but I don't know what I could try to fix it.

The whole machine is slow and will sometimes need some seconds when multiple programs or browser tabs are open. I remember this was faster when the AHCI card worked.

This is not bait, if you're not willing to donate me a Z77 board I don't have any choice than using this shitbox.
