I have a dream…
A dream that starting 2016, people will not use Facebook anymore. The key is that normies realise they need to get rid of it, otherwise it won't ever die.
Superior alternative sites and protocols already exist. Some are even free and open source. Granted, they are not centralised and controlled by one organisation (like Facebook), so one would lose some syncing functionality.
1.As for instant messaging:
People would use Jabber/Xmpp, or hell, even Whatsapp is better than relying on Facebook’s Messenger solution.
2. As for events:
Every club, party place, party organiser, or promoter would offer a newsletter service. One old sign up for event recommendations and receive newsletters every week on parties and concerts, etc. For private parties, just use group chat.
3. As for university stuff or music sharing groups:
One would use traditional web forums or bulletin boards. Or even Google groups.
4. As for photos aka look at this fancy food photo etc:
Instagram.
I know I included some botnet companies but you can't expect normies to all host their own email servers and use completely Stallman-approved buggy software.
How can we make this happen? I know I certainly couldn't delete Facebook for now because I rely too much on university groups and Messenger..
Discuss.
