back then the big O was a damn good browser, I did a stint of client side programming and it was by far the most compliant with web standards rendering everything extremely accurately

the only thing that tripped it up were dirty hacks that were required to appease IE and FF "only" websites, I guess the internet only has room for two big browsers at any time

Arrogance of the devs, removing features, paternalism and infantilizing it's userbase by hiding options.

Should I fucking continue? I'm still on FF, but not for long. I've made Chrome forks without spying useful for my workflow. If it's about time I just pull the plug for Mozilla and stop giving them lifesupport by boosting their usage stats.

In the opinions of people that switched from FF to Chrome these things were better:
1) Chrome looked better by default. This is an opinion, yours is most probably different but chrome simply looked more 'modern'
2) Chrome was said to be faster
3) Chrome was less nerdy

Walk up to a group of people around you and ask them what browser they use, then ask them what addons they have and if they modified their browser in any way.

IE was legitimately good at the early 00s. It started sucking in the mid 00s when they refused to update it for half decade. Then it started getting great by the end of the 00s and the early 10s. Now its getting shit again with Edge.

It sucks because the engine itself turned out superb, they just can't figure out how to do an UI worth a damn.

There are plenty of good browsers out there, and Chromium is open source (which says nothing but teenagers believe this is anti-botnet by default) and works nice.

I never really liked any browser after leaving Opera when they released 11.0 I think, it was just soooo fucking laggy.

I haven't seen Firefox from 2016 yet so I wouldn't know.

I can tell that FF 2015 is much faster and looks exactly the same. All i had to do was install one extension, configure it 15 minutes and never bother again.

I don't really mind Firefox. It's also pretty good. IE and mobile browsers are the greatest problem. Safari is also pretty far behind.

What I'm looking forward to the most are web components. Chrome is the only browser with proper support for those. The rest doesn't even matter that much to me. Flexbox is also great, can't wait until we can use it in like 8 years. ES2015, too. This ES2015->ES5 transpiler shit is stupid.

When web extensions will render over 50% of the addons useless I might as well switch. But with https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/ I can just wait till March 21, 2017 with that decision, when 45.8.0 will stop getting security fixes.

I'm doing it next year, freezing the features of FF in a state I deem usefull to myself as they destroy their browser by removing features.
