I have an assignment for English involving a mimic poem of "To This Day" by Shane Koyczan.

Here's what I have so far.

When I was a kid
I used to think that Windows was good
until I complained to my friend
that my laptop was slow
so he told me
install gentoo

we weren’t the only kids who grew up
this way
to this day
kids are still
running Windows
getting their information harvested
their identity compromised
their resources absorbed
their privacy seized
and embracing the botnet

but I want to tell them
that Windows is bad
OSX is childish
embrace the free software
embrace the GNU
embrace Richardo Stallmanu

why else would we still be here?
we grew up shilling for Microsoft
dumping our monies on Apple
buying proprietary non-free software

We are graduating members of the class
GNU/Linux, or as it recently has been
called, GNU plus Linux
running free software
publishing pull requests
and interjecting for a moment

but our lives will only ever always
continue to be
a continuous shill
for software
that doesn’t respect our freedoms
