Then doing a fresh install.
That way you really see the difference between the HDD vs SSD because your old install that felt so slow on HDD now suddenly feels so fast.

Cloning is OK, but do a tar or rsync clone, don't use dd, or your SSD will think everything has been written to once.

Boot to Clonezilla. Disk to Disk clone.
If new SSD is larger, use GParted (use bootable ISO) to expand and use up the other space. If Windows, use JustWorks™ Compatible "diskmgmt.msc" and expand the volume. If this is a domain computer, the powershell command "Reset-ComputerMachinePassword" may need to be used to restore domain trust relationship.
