I have a S6 and can't recommend it. Screen is nice and touchjizz is improved but still slow relative to stock and other ROMs, also extremely ugly. Phone is really slippery so I basically had to get a case for it or else I feel like I'm going to drop it all the time, fell out of my pocket at least 5 different times and I almost left it on the bus/train. Camera is great but battery life is completely worthless.

I'm from ausfagland so when i say $100-200 i probably should have clarified that it's not the same as US. A moto g is around $220 new here and was my last phone, an absolute piece of shit which failed me in every way, not unlike my old atrix 4g, so i'm done with Motorola i think.

Used HTC M7s sometimes come up for just under $200, what does /g/ think about those? other than that i think i'm restricted to galaxy S3's or china phones.

The most important thing you can do

Put a tempered glass screen protector on your phone. They do a better job protecting your screen than plastic ones, and they dont ruin the feel of your phone. A good one feels as good as virgin glass.

Second screen I'm already sold on for two reasons:
Always on when and I can have it display my recent apps

In hand feel is grade a. I'm tired of all the metal and glass backs, the rugged dimpled back is what I want right now.

There are other uses for it I'm sure, but that's its main attraction to me

On the off chance you drop your phone really bad like a retard, the glass breaks dispersing all of the energy.
A plastic screen protector doesnt take the force very well and can break the screen underneath.
The extent of the "protection" plastic give you is scratch protection not fall protection.

I start to need a smartphone. It needs to be decently fast, and have at least 16gb of built in memory. I'm not interested in possibility of extreme personalisation, though that would be a plus, but heavily modded androids seem to run slower. And the price needs to be acceptable (dunno, 375 freedombucks?).
Thought about iPhones, but fuck Apple.
Thought about Lumia 930, but I don`t know how advanced is telemetry on win 8.1/10. Enlighten me please.

Basic need - at least 2gb ram, quad core and 32gb built in memory would be ideal.

Also, I'm total newbie when it comes to smartfones. Explain as to a kid.

I got a Note for about a month ago, and it's amazing. A buddy at RadioShack got me a 64 GB microSD for $20 bucks and bought a great case for $30. The screen resolution is amazing. The battery is replaceable and lasts forever. The SPen adds so much utility. The phone is lightning fast too.

If you're going to use it so much, that you have to worry about battery life, then just get a wireless charger (some are fast, some are slow, Samsung's official one has both versions) and/or a portable battery. S6 also has two battery saving modes, normal and one that turns everything off, leaving you with a B&W screen with minimal functionality (still can browse web).

But for me it lasts the whole day with like half of the battery left when I go to sleep.

However, modern AMOLED screens have gotten much MUCH better about this, the Nexus 6P probably won't have anything noticeable for a year and even then it'll likely just be the softkeys when looking at grey backgrounds.
Just don't leave your phone on the same screen for hours and maybe get pie controls if you're really worried and it'll be fine.
