>>51064638It's a shame, yeah. Everyone who's got any weight to throw around as far as being an 'expert' has pretty much publicly opposed this... heck even Apple has last time I checked. :/ And for some reason the senate was happy to pass it anyways.
It doesn't seem to actually provide ANY good things, security or other wise. It definitely doesn't make computer systems more secure, and it inherently can't, because it promotes the broadcast of information that is supposed to be being 'secured'. That's not at all logical, fundamentally.
The government CAN already get data that companies have, they have a process for that, yeah. But that's not reason to make it even easier for them.
And that's not a 'conspiracy theorist' view or whatever. It's a fact that the government is made of PEOPLE, who are inherently fallible. Everything else aside, this will have the reverse affect; it will not promote privacy, or enhance security. It will inevitably make things less secure, and that's not good.
In a time when Nigeria and Russia and China would love nothing more than to steal some American cash or mess with our systems like they have done for decades now, less security is bad. CISA is bad. And I really hope that Obama decides to go back to the original policy back in 2013 that he showed when he threatened to veto the CISPA bill.
